You won’t need to worry about obtaining a skip permit unless you plan to place your waste container on a road or other public highway.
If you do need to place your skip on a road because you have no private land on which it will fit, your local council will need to be consulted first. A skip permit is proof that the council has officially allowed you to place your waste container in a particular public place.
When you use our skip hire services in Edgworth, you won’t need to worry about approaching the council yourself - we’ll do it on your behalf. This process is something that we’ve undertaken time and time again, so you can be sure that everything will go smoothly.
As the council requires at least a days’ notice, you’ll need to let us know well in advance too - as we will not be able to deliver your skip to your desired spot without a permit.
Once a permit has been granted, Lancashire County Council allows a skip to remain in position for up to 4 weeks. A new permit must be sought for any future skips you require.
It is highly unlikely that you will be refused a permit unless placing the skip in the location you have chosen is likely to create a clear hazard or will block the entrances of homes, roads, businesses and other places to which access is required.
It’s important that you tell us exactly where you want your skip before we make contact with the council, as the permission they give will refer to that precise location and no other. Failure to stick to this agreement can result in significant fines.
Our Edgworth skip hire team will be on hand to collect your skip once you’re ready for it to be removed.
Be careful not to overfill your skip. Once you are ready to have it removed, simply call our team and we will make arrangements to collect it.
Whatever size of container you need, you’ll be able to keep it on site for up to three weeks per booking unless you have negotiated otherwise with our management team.
On most occasions, we’ll be able to take a container away within a few hours of your call - however, to make sure that we are able to facilitate as quick a turnover as possible for you, we ask that you give us at least a day’s notice in case we are experiencing a busy period.
If you require another container, you will need to make another booking with us - giving enough notice for us to request a new permit if it is to be placed on a road (one day usually suffices when it comes to skip hire in Edgworth).
Of course, you do not need to wait for the entire three week hire period to elapse - we’ll be happy to get your full skip out of the way as soon as you require so that you can move on with your project.
